Scraping, engraving or scrimshaw was a traditional seaman’s craft in the south of Sweden – a craft that I have discovered and developed into a new form. Goose, duck, hen and oyster eggs are blown and filled with plaster, then coloured and engraved with a knife.
Every egg is an individual, each providing its own shape and surface for me to work on. A picture on a shape as an egg is a challenge to the senses and the idea behind this art form is to bring out light from darkness.
